Mob Town Concept Art

Here is some concept art for my up coming game Mob Town (working title) soon to be published by 5th Street Games. Originally it had a semi-gritty mob theme with human characters. We are changing it up to animals to lighten up the theme a little and to inject a little humor as well.

I start my sketches right over the card template I made previously, then sketch using a Wacom tablet and Adobe Photoshop. Doing it this way allows me to make sure the characters are going to fit nicely on the card without key elements being cut off by frames or icons.

From here I am going to clean all these up by redrawing them by hand. I will then scan them into the computer, ink, color and shade them with Adobe Illustrator then bring them back into Photoshop for the finishing touches. Below is a sample of where these characters will soon end up. I know I am not a very good writer, so if you have any questions on my process, please ask them below and I would be happy to answer.

Pizza Turtles

Good morning everyone, what’s for breakfast? Pizza you say? Well well well, then have I got something for you to look at! There really is no rhyme or reason that I made these. I just started drawing a cute little turtle, then it hit me that he should be a ninja, love pizza and come in 4 different colors!

Wizard of Crafts

This was sketched up for last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge. The words were Brain & Craft. After thinking about what I was going to do for about a week it finally hit me 20 minutes before it was due. The thought of the scarecrow “crafting” his own brain out of clay was the first thought then the rest just followed. It was also voted as the favorite from last week so thank you to everyone that voted for me.

Robin Hood & Sasquatch

OK so here is my contribution to R-WAC for February.

 

The word was Medieval so after going through various Dragon and Knight themed ideas, I decided to go with Robin Hood instead… and for no reason other than it sounding like a good idea he is going to square off against the Sherwood Sasquatch.

 

Overall I like how last month’s came out better, but this one will do.

Radioactive / Butterfly Sketch

This is my entry for last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge. The words were RADIOACTIVE / BUTTERFLY. Which to be honest I had no clue what to draw until my buddy Andrew gave me this idea. I didn’t have time to finish it but I still like the idea a lot and I think that someday I will…maybe.

Futura: The Vixen From Venus

FUTURA

This is the first piece of art created for the other blog I co-founded, the R-WAC Art Deck . My goal is to make all the art I create for this group look like a campy retro movie poster. We have to create our art based off of 1 random word a month, which was Future (as you can tell I really dug deep…not). Shallow idea aside I am really happy with how this came out and I can’t wait to get started on the poster for next month.

The Angry Viking

This Angry Little Viking was my submission in last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge, the words were OLD / VIKING.

If you have not been there in a while go check it out we made some changes and are always looking for more submissions. If you have never been then I will give you the run down, every Friday we reveal 2 words, you then have 1 week to create a piece of art in any style you wish using those 2 words. At the end of the week all submissions are voted on and the winner gets his/her piece featured in the Winner’s Gallery as well as the privilege of choosing the next set of words. Commissions 001-004

Ok here are the first 4 cards in this new commission run! I posted the backs as well since these are the first cards Ive done on my new stock I wanted to give a preview of that as well.

Also I wanted to point out that every card is randomly designated as a playing card as well. In the future I will be giving away free art and these will be apart of that so stay tuned for that as well!

In the mean time I am still open for commissions!
