Yoda Sketch Card Video

Just finished my second time-lapse video, this time I drew up everyone's favorite little green puppet, no not Kermit the Frog….no not Oscar the Grouch, ok ok, he's most peoples favorite little green puppet, everyone is so picky these days. So I got my self some colored paper and a webcam recently, and I decided to put the two together and make a timelapse video of me drawing something. I had my DeviantArt followers vote on a character and they chose Jessica Rabbit from the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." So here it is, enjoy!

Wizard of Crafts

This was sketched up for last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge. The words were Brain & Craft. After thinking about what I was going to do for about a week it finally hit me 20 minutes before it was due. The thought of the scarecrow “crafting” his own brain out of clay was the first thought then the rest just followed. It was also voted as the favorite from last week so thank you to everyone that voted for me.

Robin Hood & Sasquatch

OK so here is my contribution to R-WAC for February.

 

The word was Medieval so after going through various Dragon and Knight themed ideas, I decided to go with Robin Hood instead… and for no reason other than it sounding like a good idea he is going to square off against the Sherwood Sasquatch.

 

Overall I like how last month’s came out better, but this one will do.

 

The word for March is SOUTH, so check in every Wednesday at R-WAC to see my progress.

Batman & Joker Commissions Finished

I was finally able to sit down and finish the Batman & Joker Commissions I started a few weeks ago, and here they are.

For these I used my Pigma ink pens to do the main inking of the characters, then I went over the whole thing with a really loose and rough ink wash to give it a really gritty feel. Finally once all that was dry (and after the paper was re flattened from water warping) I added color using Prismacolor markers.

Wedding Shoes

On January 1st, 2011 (1/1/11 should have waited for more ones on 11/11/11) a couple of my friends got hitched. The bride saw a pair of wedding shoes online that were customized by an artist in a very unique way. She sent me the pictures and asked me if it’s something I thought I could do. Not wanting to say no to a bride to be (I think that’s 7 years bad luck or something) and seeing this as an opportunity to not only give her a one of a kind wedding present, but to try something new and out of my comfort zone.

 

So I asked her to make me a list of her and the grooms favorite things and used those ideas to decorate them. After making a mess of the “practice pair” of shoes by trying various paint markers and such I ended up using Sharpies. I found them to feel the most natural for me and they also gave the shoes a consistent hand drawn look. After I was done I put on several coats of protective fixative spray. The photos were taken by their wedding photographer.

Diablo Dark

Devilishly Dark & Beautifully Crafted since 1666. Diablo Dark is the fictional beer that goes down smooth!

So this is my entry for last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge. The random words were DARK / BEAUTY. Not sure why, but instantly I got an image in my head of a hot devil chick with a dark beer.

Voltron: United And Drawn is here! I received my copies this week and I must say this book turned out great! I am really impressed with the quality that 5finity puts into their products. I have worked on several Sketch Card sets for them in the past, but this is the first time I was asked to create a fully finished piece of art to be published in a book.

Started working on a commission of Batman & The Joker this weekend. This is where I am at so far with them. I still have some tweaking to do before I move on to inks and color. This is my entry for last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge. The words were RADIOACTIVE / BUTTERFLY. Which to be honest I had no clue what to draw until my buddy Andrew gave me this idea. I didn’t have time to finish it but I still like the idea a lot and I think that someday I will…maybe.

Futura: The Vixen From Venus

FUTURA

This is the first piece of art created for the other blog I co-founded, the R-WAC Art Deck . My goal is to make all the art I create for this group look like a campy retro movie poster. We have to create our art based off of 1 random word a month, which was Future (as you can tell I really dug deep…not). Shallow idea aside I am really happy with how this came out and I can’t wait to get started on the poster for next month.

What I have been up to

Hey everyone I just wanted to take the time to update everyone on what I have been up to that’s keep me from having something new to show you today.

 

Zazzle: First of all, I’m sure some of you are aware already that I just created my first shop on Zazzle. You can check it out here My Zazzle or by clicking on My store on the menu bar over there.

 

Squidoo: I also created my first Squidoo lens which you can view here Squidoo Lens. Some cool things include my recommended graphic novels and a section where I discuss some of my art idols. 

 

R-WAC Art Deck: I have also teamed up with 4 other awesome artists on a project we all created together. The idea is that each month we draw a word at random. We then have 1 month to create a piece of art that represents that theme. Each week all post an in progress shot and talk a little about our process (I post all my updates on Wednesdays by the by) The goal is for us to have enough art to create a deck of cards that features 54 pieces of original art. Check it out here R-WAC Art Deck. While your there check out the weekly “challuunge” at the top of the blog, that one is open to anyone who wants to participate.

The Angry Viking

This Angry Little Viking was my submission in last weeks Random Words Art Challuunge, the words were OLD / VIKING.

If you have not been there in a while go check it out we made some changes and are always looking for more submissions. If you have never been then I will give you the run down, every Friday we reveal 2 words, you then have 1 week to create a piece of art in any style you wish using those 2 words.
